How it works

Three steps. No call center.

No account, no bidding war, no five businesses calling at once. You see the record before anyone sees your number.

  1. 01

Tell us the ZIP and the trade.

Two fields to start. We only cover Austin ZIPs starting 786 and 787 for now.

    ZIP + trade

  2. 02

    We read the state record.

TSBPE for plumbing, TDLR for HVAC. Legal name, license number, status and expiry, straight from the public file.

  3. 03

    You choose one pro.

We send a shortlist with the license on each card. Your name and number go to the business you pick.

We only take requests for work we can verify. Plumbing licenses come from TSBPE, HVAC licenses from TDLR. No unverified categories, no padded shortlist.

Questions

Questions, answered.

If something is missing, start a request and ask. A person reads it.

Is NowVetted free?

Yes, for homeowners. You do not pay to request a pro or to see a license record. We plan to charge businesses per accepted lead, not for placement.

How do you check a license?

We read the public record at the source: TSBPE for plumbing, TDLR for HVAC. We store the number, status, expiry and the date checked. We re-check every month. If something does not match, the business does not go on the shortlist.

Do you sell my phone number?

No. By default, your name, number and address go to the one business you choose. If you ask us to find one for you, up to three businesses see a summary of the job without your contact details. The first to accept gets your details, and the others are told it is gone.

Why do you not show prices?

Because we do not have real quotes yet. When we have enough completed jobs in Austin, we will publish ranges with the sample size, date and method. Until then, we would rather show you the license and the scope than invent a number.

Are you a contractor?

No. NowVetted is an introduction service. The contract for the work is between you and the business you choose. We are not a party to it.

Why only Austin?

License data is state by state, and verification is manual. One metro and two trades lets us check every listing properly. San Antonio is next, then the rest of Texas.

What if you cannot find a licensed pro?

We show you one or two matches, not five padded ones. If we have nothing, we tell you and point you to the state registry so you can check for yourself.
